The second National Social Services Conference in Wales successfully took place in Cardiff on 16th - 18th June 2009.

The theme of the 2009 conference was 'delivering the change....a shared responsibility' and focused on the vision for adult social care, children's services, and partnership working to help improve services for individual service users, their families, carers and their communities.

As partners, ADSS Cymru, WLGA and Care Council for Wales wanted to ensure the event was relevant to all those involved in the social care sector, and the conference and its plenary, workshop and exhibition events reflected the fullest possible range of interests brought by delegates from an equally wide range of backgrounds.

Over 200 delegates attended the event including directors of social services, council members, heads of service, and representatives from the independent, voluntary, community or private sector. The conference provided opportunities for engaging debate and innovative learning, as well as excellent networking and social events.

The conference culminated in a celebratory event, the Social Care Accolades on June 18th, which showcased and awarded organisations and teams who have invested in their social care workforce to improve services and outcomes.
